The mummers play we do is collected from the nearby village of Sunningwell.  Near Christmas we do a ‘Town Tour’ and an ‘Out of Town Tour’ taking in quite a few pubs in one evening.  We always collect for a local charity. 

The 2023 Mummers tours were:

• Tuesday 12th December: Out of Town Tour – 7.15 Plum Pudding (Milton), 8.00 Cherry Tree (Steventon), 8.30 North Star (Steventon), 9.15 Red Lion (Drayton), 9.45 Wheatsheaf (Drayton).
• Tuesday 19th December: Town Tour – 3pm Mayor’s Tea Party; 7.15 Punch Bowl, 7.45 Brewery Tap,. 8.30 Tipsy Mercer, 9.00 Kings Head & Bell, 9.30 Broad Face, 10.00 Stocks Bar, Crown & Thistle.
• The Mummers raised a total of £661.41 for the Abingdon Foodbank

It has become a bit of a tradition that there is a composite video of the Out of Town Tour on our Facebook page, with a scene in each pub.  The video of the 2019 tour is here, and the 2018 tour is here .  Can you spot the differences?  If you want to see how different it was in 2016 click here .  Unfortunately, there was no 2020 Mummers performance, apart from a virtual one done online on Mayor’s Day, and the 2021 tours were cancelled at short notice due to an increase in Covid cases.  The 2022 and 2023 plays were not filmed.
