ATMD diary of 2011

Saturday 1st January: traditional dancing out at The Cherry Tree, Steventon with Icknield Way.

Saturday 12th February: danced at The Mayor of Abingdon’s Charity Ball, Abingdon Guildhall, then at Oxford City and University Ale (Wolvercote).

Saturday 26th February: Armaleggan Ale (Cumnor).

Thursday 10th March: Mayors’ Challenge: the Mayor of Ock Street’s team took on The Mayor of Abingdon’s team at pub games in the Brewery Tap. The Mayor of Ock Street’s team won 21 – 14.

Saturday 19th March: Icknield Way Ale (East Hendred).

Sunday 17th April: dancing in Oxford at what should have been the Oxford Folk Festival, but wasn’t, as it had been cancelled.

Good Friday 22nd April: danced at a wedding at Drayton Golf Club.

Easter Saturday / St George’s Day, 23rd April: danced at Aldworth street fair in the morning and at The King’s Head and Bell in the afternoon.

Royal Wedding, 29th April: danced at Admiral Benbow street party, Milton, then at traditional bun throwing event in Abingdon Market Place, retiring to The Kings Head and Bell for an impromptu dance and music session there too.

May Morning, Sunday 1st May: danced at traditional May morning celebrations in Oxford.

Thursday 5th May: danced at Prince of Wales, Shippon, with Old Speckled Hen.

Saturday 14th May: danced at St Nicolas school fete.

Sunday 15th May: dancing and music session at Cherry Tree, (Steventon) beer festival.

Monday 16th May: danced for the outgoing Mayor of Abingdon outside the Guildhall.  Then at the Kings Head & Bell.

Thursday 19th May: danced at Cherry Tree and North Star, Steventon with Oxford University and City MM.

Saturday 21st May: danced at Long Crendon walkaround.

Saturday 28th May: danced at Chippenham Folk Festival.

Bank Holiday Monday evening 30th May: joined Bampton on their annual day of dancing.

Mayor’s Day, Saturday 18th June: visiting sides: Boerke Naas, Long Crendon, Oxford City.  Roger Cox was re-elected Mayor of Ock Street for 2011/2012.  Results were: Roger Cox 78 votes; Robert Beaver 55 votes; Harry Knight 27 votes

Sunday 10th July: dancing and music session at the Crown (Marcham).

Thursday 21st July: dancing at Fleur de Lys (Dorchester) and Six Bells (Warborough).  We did a joint stand at Warborough with Headington Quarry.

Saturday 30 July: danced at wedding of our bagman’s son at Abingdon Guildhall. 

Thursday 4th August: danced at Prince of Wales, Shippon.

Sunday 14th August: danced at Flowing Well (Sunningwell). 

Saturday 20th August: danced at charity event at the Dog House (Frilford Heath) with the Vale Islanders. 

Sunday 28 August: danced at King’s Head and Bell Beer Festival.

Sunday 4 September: danced at Wallingford Bunkfest.

Saturday 10 September: danced in Abingdon for Heritage weekend.  Later on at the Cross Keys beer festival.

Monday 19th September: danced for the Monday Club at John Mason school. 

Sunday 25th September: danced at the Old Anchor.

Saturday 19th November: Headington Quarry Ale and Feast.

Thursday 1st December: Abingdon Christmas Extravaganza, took part in the parade and danced, then retired to the Punch Bowl.

Wednesday 7th December: private Mummers performances for the Speakers Club at 35 Ock Street and Abingdon Bowls Club (Albert Park).

Tuesday 13th December: Mummers Town Tour – Punch Bowl, Broad Face, Crown & Thistle, Kings Head & Bell, Old Anchor, Conservative Club, Brewery Tap.

Tuesday 20th December: Mummers Out of Town Tour -Admiral Benbow (Milton), Cherry Tree (Steventon), Fox (Steventon), North Star (Steventon), Wheatsheaf (Drayton), Red Lion (Drayton).

Mummers collected a total of £463.27 for the Abingdon Breakaway Club.
