New Year’s Day: Lunchtime dancing with Icknield Way at The Cherry Tree, Steventon.

Saturday 7th February: Danced at Cecil Sharp House, London for the Mary Neal project. Hugely enjoyable. Thanks to Lucy Neal and Doc Rowe for inviting us and to New Esperance Morris for letting us share their dance workshop.

Friday 20th February: Dancing to welcome guests at the Mayor of Abingdon’s Charity Ball. Abingdon Guildhall.

Saturday 21 February: Attended Oxford’s Ale.

Thursday 12th March: Mayor’s Challenge. The Mayor of Abingdon (and his team) lost 11 – 7 to the Mayor of Ock Street (and his team), further extending the Town Council’s losing streak. This was in spite of the participation in the crib competition of Mrs Norah Jones, whose late husband Sam donated the trophy in 1970, when he was Mayor of Abingdon.

Sunday 22nd March: Oxford Folk Festival. Lovely day. Enjoyed by all.

Thursday 23rd April: St George’s Day. Dancing outside Punchbowl and Old Anchor. A great evening, made even better by the traditional English generosity of the landlords / landladies.

Saturday 25th April: Danced at Wallingford’s St. George’s Day Celebrations.

Also Saturday 25th April: Danced with Icknield Way and Ridgeway Step Clog at a wedding in Abingdon.

Saturday 2nd May: Danced on Abingdon Market Place to open the International Dance Festival.

Thursday 7th May: Evening pub tour with Old Speckled Hen at The Vine, Cumnor.

Wednesday 13th May: Danced at the installation of the new Mayor of Abingdon.

Thursday 14th May: Very damp but enjoyable evening pub tour to George and Dragon, Upton and the Fleur de Lys in East Hagbourne for dancing and music.

Bank Holiday Monday, 25th May: Danced at Harwell Feast, then at Bampton, where a great evening was had by all!

Thursday 28th May: Pub tour with Oxford City and University. Cherry Tree and North Star, Steventon.

Saturday 13th June: Mayor’s Day, Roger Cox (76 votes) was re-elected, but Rob Beaver was very close with 74 votes! Stuart Jackson got 58 votes.  This years’ visitors were Saddleworth, Chipping Campden, and Berkshire Bedlam.  

Sunday 21st June:  Pub Tour at Drayton Red Lion family day. Fathers’ day, too! Very enjoyable!

Saturday 27th June: Fetes at Radley and Rush Court (Shillingford). Very enjoyable, but very hot.

Sunday 28 June:  Beer Festival at Home Sweet Home pub, Roke. Really good fun.

Saturday 4th July:  Danced on Abingdon Market Place for Yeah Baby children’s hospital charity event.

Sunday 12th July:  Danced at the High Sheriff’s Garden Party.

Saturday 18th July: Danced at a wedding at Cozener’s House, Abingdon.

Sunday 19th July: Danced in Abingdon, in spite of rain, at Punchbowl the Old Anchor beer festival.

Thursday 6th August:  Intended pub tour to Barley Mow, Clifton Hampden and Plough, Long Wittenham was cancelled due to flooding.

Weekend of 22/23 August: Visited Saddleworth for their Rushcart Celebrations. Hugely enjoyable weekend,

Sunday 30th August: Danced at a wedding in Ardington.

Sunday 6th September: Wallingford Bunkfest. A great time was had by all.

Saturday 12th September: Heritage Day, danced around central Abingdon.

Saturday 10th October: Danced in support of Breast Cancer Charity on Abingdon Market Place, then at the Brewery Tap.

Thursday 3rd December: Danced at Abingdon Christmas Extravaganza, and played in Punchbowl front bar afterwards, to great acclaim! Made up for the freezing weather.

Saturday 5th December:  Danced during the interval at White Horse Ceilidh in Grove village hall.

Thursday 10th December: Special Mummers performance for Abingdon Archaeological and Historical Society, Northcourt Centre, with a short talk by Les Argyle beforehand.

Wednesday 16th December: Mummers’ Town Tour: Punch Bowl, Broad Face, Crown & Thistle, Kings Head & Bell, Old Anchor, Conservative Club, Brewery Tap.

Tuesday 22nd December: Mummers’ Out of Town Tour: Cherry Tree, Steventon, Fox, Steventon, North Star, Steventon, Wheatsheaf, Drayton, Red Lion, Drayton.

The Mummers collected a total £525.04 for the Abingdon Friends of the Citizens’ Advice Bureau.  This was generously matched by NPower as part of their support for local charities.
